The Cambridge AS Level Chemistry curriculum for Grade 11 (syllabus 9701) is organized across three main branches—Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry—with topics covering atomic structure, chemical bonding, states of matter, chemical energetics, electrochemistry, equilibria, reaction kinetics, periodicity, Group 2 and Group 17 elements, nitrogen and sulfur, hydrocarbons, halogen compounds, hydroxy compounds, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids and derivatives, nitrogen compounds, polymerization, organic synthesis, and analytical techniques . It is assessed through three compulsory papers (Paper 1: Multiple Choice, Paper 2: Structured Questions, and Paper 3: Advanced Practical Skills), with all three components externally examined and contributing to the final AS grade.
