Cambridge AS Level Computer Science
The Cambridge AS Level Computer Science curriculum for Grade 11 (syllabus 9618) is divided into two core components: Theory Fundamentals (Paper 1) covering topics 1-8 including information representation, communication, hardware, processor fundamentals, system software, security, ethics, and databases, and Fundamental Problem-solving and Programming Skills (Paper 2) covering topics 9-12 including algorithm design, data types and structures, programming, and software development . It is assessed through two externally examined papers—Paper 1 (1 hour 30 minutes, 75 marks) and Paper 2 (2 hours, 75 marks)—each contributing 50% to the AS Level grade, with candidates demonstrating computational thinking skills through theory questions and pseudocode-based problem-solving.
