Cambridge A Level Accounting

Accounting

The Cambridge A Level Grade 12 Accounting curriculum (syllabus 9706) extends the AS content by covering advanced topics across financial accounting, including preparation of financial statements for complex business structures like partnerships and limited companies, regulatory and ethical considerations (including International Accounting Standards), business acquisition and merger accounting, and computerized accounting systems . It also deepens cost and management accounting knowledge through activity-based costing (ABC), standard costing and variance analysis, budgeting and budgetary control, and investment appraisal methods such as payback, ARR, NPV, and IRR . The full A Level qualification requires students to complete two additional externally examined papers—Paper 3 (Financial Accounting) and Paper 4 (Cost and Management Accounting)—which together contribute 50% to the final A Level grade alongside the AS Level components.
