Cambridge GCSE Computer Science
The Cambridge GCSE Computer Science curriculum for Grades 10-11 (syllabuses 0478/0984) develops learners' understanding of computer systems, computational thinking, and algorithmic problem-solving through two main components: Theory of Computer Science (covering data representation, hardware, software, the internet, and emerging technologies) and Practical Problem-solving and Programming (covering algorithms, programming, and databases) . The curriculum is assessed through two externally examined papers—Paper 1 (Computer Systems, 1 hour 45 minutes, 50% of final grade) and Paper 2 (Algorithms, Programming and Logic, 1 hour 45 minutes, 50% of final grade)—with no coursework component and calculators not permitted in either examination.
