Cambridge GCSE Additional Mathematics

Additional Mathematics

The Cambridge GCSE Additional Mathematics curriculum for Grades 10-11 (syllabus 0606) is an advanced qualification designed for high-ability students who have achieved or are likely to achieve top grades in the standard IGCSE Mathematics course . It provides a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts across key topics including functions, quadratic functions, factors of polynomials, logarithmic and exponential functions, coordinate geometry of the circle, circular measure, trigonometry, permutations and combinations, series, vectors in two dimensions, and calculus (differentiation and integration) . The curriculum is assessed through two externally examined papers, each lasting 2 hours and contributing 50% to the final grade, with Paper 1 being non-calculator and Paper 2 calculator-allowed . The course develops rigorous problem-solving fluency and analytical thinking, strengthens logical reasoning and mathematical communication, and provides an excellent foundation for progression to A Level Mathematics or other STEM-related disciplines.
