CAPS Grade 10 Life Sciences

The South African CAPS Grade 10 Life Sciences curriculum for the FET Phase is divided into two examination papers, with Paper 1 covering topics such as the Chemistry of Life, Cells (basic units of life, mitosis), Plant and Animal Tissues, and Support and Transport Systems in plants and animals, while Paper 2 covers Transport Systems in Mammals, Biosphere to Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Classification, and the History of Life on Earth . It emphasizes three specific aims: knowing the subject content, doing science through practical investigations, and understanding the applications of Life Sciences in everyday life, including the history of scientific discoveries and indigenous knowledge.
