CAPS Grade 11 Physical Sciences
The South African CAPS Grade 11 Physical Sciences curriculum for the FET Phase is divided into Physics (Paper 1) and Chemistry (Paper 2), with prescribed content across Mechanics (vectors in 2D, Newton's Laws), Waves, Sound & Light, Electricity & Magnetism (electrostatics, electromagnetism, circuits), Matter & Materials (molecular structure, intermolecular forces, ideal gases), and Chemical Change (quantitative aspects, energy, types of reactions) . The final examination consists of two 3-hour papers, each worth 150 marks, with questions weighted across cognitive levels (15% recall, 35-40% understanding, 35-40% applying/analysing, and 10% evaluating/creating) to assess both conceptual knowledge and problem-solving skills.
