CAPS Grade 12 English

The South African CAPS Grade 12 English curriculum for the FET Phase is the culmination of the learning trajectory, offered at Home Language and First Additional Language levels, and is structured across four main skill areas: Listening and Speaking, Reading and Viewing, Writing and Presenting, and Language Structures and Conventions . It prepares students for the final National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations by developing their ability to engage critically with a variety of literary and non-literary texts—including poetry, drama, novels, short stories, cartoons and advertisements—while mastering creative, transactional and discursive writing, visual literacy, and comprehensive language usage.
