The South African CAPS Grade 10 Mathematics curriculum for the FET Phase consolidates and extends key concepts, introducing advanced topics across nine main content areas: Functions (linear, quadratic, exponential, and hyperbolic), Algebra (exponents, surds, factorization including sums/differences of cubes, and solving equations and inequalities), Finance and Growth (simple and compound interest, hire purchase, inflation), and Trigonometry (ratios, graphs, and solving problems in 2D) . It further develops analytical Geometry (distance, gradient, midpoint), Euclidean Geometry (midpoint theorem, properties of quadrilaterals), Probability (theoretical probability, Venn diagrams, mutually exclusive events), and Statistics (measures of central tendency and dispersion, box and whisker diagrams).
