The IEB Grade 11 English curriculum for the FET Phase is designed to build towards the final Matric examinations, with the Home Language syllabus developing learners' skills in Listening and Speaking, Reading and Viewing, Writing and Presenting, and Language Structures and Conventions . The IEB Assessment Unit offers the optional Grade 11 IEB Benchmark Test (IeBT) which consists of two papers: a 2-hour Comprehension, Summary and Language paper, and a 2-hour Literature paper focusing on the same genres and texts as the final Grade 12 examinations, providing learners with valuable practice and feedback ahead of their NSC exams.
