Grade 11 IEB Life Sciences

The IEB Grade 11 Life Sciences curriculum for the FET Phase is organised into four main knowledge strands: Life Processes in Plants and Animals (support and transport systems, excretion, nervous system), Life at the Molecular, Cellular and Tissue Level (biodiversity of micro-organisms, immunity, biotechnology), Diversity, Change and Continuity (plant and animal diversity, biogeography), and Environmental Studies (human influences on the environment) . It emphasizes the development of scientific inquiry skills through practical investigations, case studies linking science to real-life situations, and formal assessment tasks with examinations consisting of two papers covering topics including population ecology, human impact on the environment, and the biodiversity and reproduction of plants and animals.
