Grade 12 IEB Mathematics
The IEB Grade 12 Mathematics curriculum is the culmination of the FET Phase, preparing students for the final National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations through two three-hour papers . Paper 1 covers Algebra and Equations, Patterns and Sequences, Finance (growth and decay), Functions and Graphs, Differential Calculus, and Probability, while Paper 2 focuses on Statistics, Analytical Geometry, Trigonometry, and Euclidean Geometry and Measurement, with the total mark of 400 comprising 150 marks per paper and 100 marks from School-Based Assessment . The curriculum is designed to assess cognitive levels with a weighting of 20% knowledge, 30% routine procedures, 35% complex procedures, and 15% problem solving and investigations, and offers a Further Studies Mathematics extension for learners pursuing tertiary studies in Mathematics, Engineering, or Sciences, covering advanced topics such as Number Theory, Algebra, Differential and Integral Calculus, Vectors, Euclidean and Coordinate Geometry, and Trigonometry at standard level, with elective branches including Statistics and Probability, Finance and Mathematical Modelling, Matrices, and Graph Theory at extended level.
